| GEOGRAPHY |
The Palouse Economic Development Council area is comprised of the southeastern Washington State counties of Asotin, Columbia, Garfield, and Whitman counties. The topography and climate of the area is varied. Most of the area is rich agricultural land that is well suited for the production of dry land wheat, peas, lentils and barley. The southern section consists of mountainous, forested terrain. The Snake River Valley consists of rugged bluffs and deep valleys. Elevations range from 540 feet in lowland areas to 6,600 feet in the Blue Mountains of Columbia County. The Palouse Economic Development Council area encompasses approximately 4,322 square miles. |
