Garfield County |
On November 29, 1881 Garfield County was split off from Columbia County and named after President Garfield, who died earlier that year. A tribute to the president hangs in the Pomeroy Museum. In 1884 the city of Pomeroy, the only incorporated town in Garfield County, became the county seat. Today, Pomeroy is a progressive, modern community, with old-fashioned community spirit. Whether you're in Pomeroy for a day or a lifetime, the people here want
to make you feel right at home. COUNTY
